The answer given to David Cannan's  June Tynwald question is you'll have to wait!

Here's an extract of the reply of the Chair of the Civil Service Commission (John Houghton)

"... personal salary information is classed as personal data and, as such, is subject to the provisions of the Data Protection Act 2002. Therefore, while information about pay scales and pay ranges can be provided, information about an individual’s current salary cannot be disclosed without the consent of the individual to whom it relates. In view of this, consent will be sought from individual Civil Service jobholders to facilitate the provision of the requested personal salary information. As soon as consents have been obtained and the information collated, it will be circulated to Hon. Members for their information. It is important to bear in mind that this list will not include reference to those Government posts outwith the Civil Service which have a salary greater than that paid to the Chief Minister, as such job roles do not fall within the ambit of the Civil Service Commission".

I agree wholeheartedly with Gerry. Solar power is the way forward and there's no excuse not to have more uptake of it in homes across the island.

Just like The Realist I am interested in obtaining a list of the top civil servants salaries. I have tried to look high and low, and have found nothing yet... I don't think it comes in a list form, so tried to find these out individually, but nothing yet. Have you made any progress yet Realist?

PAG

Whilst the idea of a levy for recipirical health arrangements may be admirable, have you given any thought to the amount of people this would directly benefit.

Most right minded people are already covered with annual health insurance policies costing around £80 per annum for a family of four.

If you can afford to travel to the UK surely you can afford this.

For the very few people who cannot get health cover there should be some sort of Government fund to assist but this should be very carefully monitored.  Just because youa re on benefits does not make you eligible.

Nothing seems to have been said about the arrangements being made here to collect revenue of those unfortunate enough to become ill.  Surely TT will be a financial boom for the DHSS

Gerry: Solar panels

The comments by Andrew Jessop are correct,as a Braddan Commissioner he knows that all council houses could be fitted with solar panels connected to a gas boiler,Braddan has done it so what are the rest waiting for,I checked with E.M.S at Hills Meadow they fitted them for Braddan, the saving would cut peoples bills by 80% or more.

Wind power is another option to generate electricity,or the other type of solar panel which generates electric.

Andrew: The Bishop in Tynwald

"We have the politicians we deserve" - Having a bishop in Tynwald to provide "moral perspective", an outsiders view untainted by the desire to be re-elected, a greater world-view, better management skills etc. should surely lead us to ask "Just how competent are our politicians?" and "whose fault is that?".

It appears that Manx politicians are not yet ready for "Real Government" and need to keep the stabilisers on for a bit longer. We do need an independent press but also some independent thinking MHKs and MLCs.

Maybe one day!
